MVSH operates four seniors lodges in Olds, Carstairs, Didsbury and Sundre, as well as several manors.
Effective this week, workers in long-term care and supportive living sites are only allowed to work at one site, a move aimed at reducing the risk of spreading the virus between locations.
“We are implementing it as per the order,” Smalldon said. “We will abide by that.”
Also effective this week continuing care workers in all provincial seniors lodges are required to wear masks at all times when providing direct patient care or working in patient care areas.
MVSH implemented that new mandatory mask requirement last weekend, he said.
MVSH officials have already put in place other anti-COVID-19 measures, including a requirement that any resident who leaves one of its facilities go into a 10-day self-isolation in their suites.
Meanwhile, nine residents of the Carstairs seniors lodge were tested for COVID-19 last week, with all nine coming back negative, he said.
There have been no confirmed cases of the virus in any MVSH lodge or manor, he said.
COVID-19 outbreaks at long-term care lodges have accounted for almost half of deaths attributed to the virus in Canada.
