I just needed to pass on a thank you to the gentleman who paid for my groceries at the Olds Walmart on Jan. 31.
I picked up a few things there and tried to pay with my debit card through my new savings account. However, I was unable to complete the transaction.
I learned later that my savings account had not been set up for POS (Interact use). I attempted three times.
After the third attempt, I asked the cashier to hold my things; that I would walk over to the BMO, take out the funds and would be right back. I apologized to those behind me for holding up the line.
I was successful in getting funds out of the ATM and returned to the Walmart checkout 10 minutes later.
When I went to pay, the young cashier stated, "don't worry about it, it's all taken care of.鈥
When I asked her what did she mean, 鈥渋t was taken care of,鈥 she stated the guy behind me paid for my $32 purchase, and to tell me to have a good day. The gent and his family were long gone by this time.
I was absolutely dumbstruck by this kind gesture. I just wanted to give that man a big thank you. I felt like I had just won the lottery.
(I actually had $47 worth of groceries. However, I used coupons and flyer pricing and saved $15 on my purchase).
I just wanted to give credit to this gentleman for his kindness. I have since passed this forward, and paid for a family's meal at a restaurant in Red Deer.
People of Olds are great people.
