鈥淲ith this support, we can begin to find a way forward, so that our community has an opportunity to find hope and healing,鈥� Young said. 鈥淚t is a sad truth that the individual and communal harm that occurred in these schools affects Indigenous families and communities today through direct and intergenerational trauma.鈥�

鈥淚t was for the support and acknowledgment of our Residential School survivors and to honour our ancestors who didn鈥檛 make it home,鈥� Holloway said. 鈥淲e鈥檝e been silenced for too long.鈥�

鈥淲e still have to move forward鈥� We have to continue this work,鈥� Snow said.聽

"We have so much to offer. We have a rich, vibrant and beautiful culture. The Indigenous way of knowing and being is something that we take great pride in.鈥�

鈥淲e鈥檝e had overdoses for many years, but recently it鈥檚 been hitting hard, it鈥檚 been one after the other, they keep dropping, and it鈥檚 because the pandemic and the dealers are getting brave enough to mix anything and that鈥檚 what causing our people to die, almost every day."

鈥淚鈥檓 a pretty badass person because I went through a lot and I have a lot of stories to share and a lot of obstacles I had to overcome and still trying to get over.鈥�
