Grizzlys make trade with Klippers The Olds Grizzlys have obtained forward Justin Gerwing from the Kindersley Klippers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in exchange for goaltender Riley Parker.

The season was not supposed to end this way. Sure, the so-called experts figured this season鈥檚 Innisfail Indians were a baseball team with loads of promise, great young talent but a squad reconciled to a rebuilding year.

Many of Canada鈥檚 top shuffleboard players were in Innisfail last week competing in the Second Inter-Provincial Floor Shuffleboard Tournament 鈥� and the local team came up on top.

When the annual Men鈥檚 Open golf tournament tees off at the Innisfail Golf Club on Sept. 3, Darryl Tronnes intends to be there 鈥� just like he has for the past 57 years.

By game鈥檚 end, through rain, thunder and lightening, brother coaches Desmond and Steven Bouteiller could only shake their heads and marvel at the wonder of it all. 鈥淭his was a rag tag team that did it,鈥� said Desmond.

For Innisfail鈥檚 Shirley Thomas the third time is certainly the charm. The 77-year-old mother of seven, grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of 12, entered her third Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games last month in Fairview.

Olds Olympia FC maintained its hold on second place in tier 1 of the Red Deer City Soccer Association's men's division with a 6-3 victory over Wright Upholstery on July 26. The game took place at Red Deer College's main field.

Olds native Daulton Siwak will be attending a prospect camp later this month with 35 other NHL hopefuls from August16 to 18 in Etobicoke, Ont.
