OLDS — Starting May 14, Olds residents will be able to dispose of yard waste on certain days at the town’s Operations Centre, located along 70th Avenue.
The service is being provided exclusively for Olds residents.
On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, weather permitting, the residential branch dump will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. until the end of September.
Examples of yard waste that will be accepted include branches, small trees, shrubs and leaves.
The site will not accept commercial loads, and it is equipped to handle up to a half-ton of yard waste per trip, with provisions for multiple trips if necessary.
On very rainy days, the facility will close so staff can manage waste processing effectively.
The municipality says the creation and operation of the dump “complements the town’s environmental initiatives.”
“By facilitating proper disposal and recycling of organic materials, the facility supports the town's commitment to sustainability and community cleanliness,” it says.
Residents are reminded to adhere to the specific guidelines for waste disposal at the facility to ensure efficiency and safety.
Further assistance and guidance will be made available on-site, provided by a summer student staff member.
