OLDS — A temporary COVID-19 testing site in town was closing Tuesday, due to a decrease in demand for COVID testing.
Testing services still remain available in Red Deer and Airdrie.
Also, public health staff still offer community/home-based testing in exceptional circumstances in which clients are unable to travel to a testing site.
The Olds COVID testing site was opened in September “in response to increased COVID-19 activity within the area, as well as increased demand for access to testing,” an Alberta Health Services (AHS) news release says.
However, since that time, usage of that site has “dropped significantly,” the release adds.
AHS says people with symptoms of COVID-19 are advised to self-isolate immediately and go online to book a testing appointment at ahs.ca/covid. Clients without internet access can call 811 and Health Link staff will book a test appointment.
