Fall is finally here. The summer camper is stored for the winter. The children are back in school, and council is once again reviewing its yearly budgeting process. This fall our community is also having a byelection.

It was about 3 p.m. last Friday when my cat Spyryt approached our family dog Lady who was lying in her bed. Spyryt snuggled up beside her, much like he did as a kitten a decade earlier. But last Friday was different.

Canadian police, who certainly have enough to worry about dealing with homegrown criminals, shouldn't also have to be spending their time and resources chasing after foreign criminals who set up shop in Alberta and other provinces.
